SkyLens Privacy Policy
Effective: July 10, 2026
SkyLens is built so that nothing you do in the app ever reaches us. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We operate no servers of our own: we do not collect, store, sell, or share your data — it never leaves your hands in the first place.
What stays on your device
- Camera. The live view exists only to draw the sky overlay in front of you. Frames are processed on your device in real time; nothing is ever recorded, saved, or transmitted.
- Motion sensors. Compass and attitude readings align the overlay with the sky. They are processed on the device and never leave it.
- Location. Used on the device to work out what is overhead: which aircraft, satellites, and celestial objects are above you. SkyLens cannot compute your sky without it.
- Settings. Your preferences are stored locally on your device and nowhere else.
What leaves your device, and why
Live sky data has to come from somewhere. SkyLens fetches it directly from public sources; the requests carry no account, no name, and no advertising identifier:
- adsb.lol (community flight data): to find aircraft near you, the app requests traffic around your approximate coordinates. The worldwide airline view sends an airline code instead, not your location.
- adsbdb.com: aircraft type and route lookups, keyed by an aircraft's hex code or a flight's callsign. No location is sent.
- Open-Meteo: receives your approximate coordinates to return the ground elevation at your location, so overlays sit at the correct height.
- CelesTrak: satellite catalogue downloads. Nothing about you is sent.
- NASA/JPL Horizons: deep-space craft ephemerides. Nothing about you is sent.
- Airline logo images (images.kiwi.com): receives an airline code to return that airline's logo.
- Apple Maps: Map mode is built on Apple's MapKit; map tiles are served by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.
Like any internet request, these providers technically see your device's IP address as part of ordinary networking. We attach nothing else, and we receive nothing back about you. Satellite and celestial positions are computed entirely on your device.
Data retention
We retain nothing, because nothing reaches us.
Children
SkyLens collects no data from anyone — including children.
Changes to this policy
